    We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated Manufacturing Supervisor for our 3rd shift to join REI's Thermal Media Production Operations in our Lawrenceville, GA campus!  In this fast-paced environment, the Manufacturing Supervisor will supervise the daily activities of the Slitting production operators by coordinating and prioritizing activities relating to materials, labor, and equipment to ensure area production and quality goals are met and maintain daily production records and progress reports.  Working independently on night shift, the Manufacturing Supervisor will be challenged with organizing and assigning work to ensure it is completed safely in accordance with internally established procedures and quality standards using good management practices in order to meet or exceed customer expectations.

    Responsibilities include

    • Supervises hourly personnel engaged in some or all of the following activities: machine operation and/or fabrication, product preparation, set-up/change-over of production line, and quality inspections.
    • Supervises the work performance of hourly employees which includes giving daily work direction, training and coaching for development, conducting performance appraisals, recommendations for hiring, promotions, raises, monitoring attendance and administering disciplinary action as needed.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees throughout the organization and including contingent workers; fair and equal treatment.
    • Develop cooperation and teamwork while leading a diverse group of people, working towards solutions which balance business, customer, and associate needs. This includes an ability to work with others easily, establishing a climate of trust, confidence, and mutual respect.
    • Plans daily operations and makes routine adjustments to work assignments, production processes, and/or equipment to meet production schedules and targets while maintaining QCDSE standards.
    • Communicates, trains, and enforces adherence to company policies and procedures. Recommends changes to daily procedures.
    • Participates in the testing and implementation of new products into production.  Monitors process and gathers data on results.
    • Participates in the investigation of production problems and/or product quality issues.  Initiates corrective action, requests repairs or implements countermeasures and tracks results.
    • Prevent unscheduled downtime; unplanned disruptions in the production and delivery process can end up costing significant time and money. 
    • Participates in developing ISO procedures, forms, operator reports and visual aids. Maintains records as required by ISO.
    • Reviews production reports for accuracy. Tracks and consolidates productivity and quality statistics.
    • Generates productivity and quality reports for management review.
    • Promotes employee participation in company-sponsored programs. Guides subordinates in the identification, recommendation and implementation of corporate systems and programs such as QMS, EMS, ISMS, SOX and Kaizen/5S within the work unit.
    • Responds to accidents and may perform first aid. Conducts initial investigation of accidents, identifies root cause, and submits incident notification to EH&S.
    • Follows procedures for the appropriate reporting and management of safety infractions and/or accidents. May recommend corrective/preventive actions and implements actions determined by manager.
    • Conduct tours of production area to provide management support for problem resolution and policy compliance, and ensure work instructions, company policies, quality and safety standards are followed at all times.
    • Perform a variety of administrative duties which include developing procedures, forms and presentations, generating daily production and quality reports and statistics, reconciling inventory, and promoting and guiding employees participation Kaizen, safety circle, and 5S activities.
    • Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.

    Qualified candidates will possess

    • High School diploma or GED required.  Vocational/technical certification in manufacturing technology or related field preferred.
    • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in production/manufacturing environment required.
    • Experienced leading a team of 10+ operators. 
    • Experience in thermal ribbon, slitting, chemical applications, paper applications and/or high-speed, continuous manufacturing operations preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of ISO9000 and ISO14000 preferred.
    • Must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, 6 p - 6a; days 3 on 2 off schedule - every other weekend off.
    • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving/troubleshooting and communication (verbal and written) skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership ability to coach, lead, and empower employees. Lead by example.
    • Must be self-motivated, able to function autonomously, well organized, detail oriented and efficient under pressure; use good judgement.
    • Must have working knowledge of manufacturing operations, equipment (continuous/fast paced), processes and procedure. 
    • Previous mechanical/electrical/technical experience or training a plus.
    • Attention to details/analytical and good math skills to calculate yields, variances, material and labor costs required.
    • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills at intermediate level, along with experience in writing procedures, creating forms, visual aids and graphs and presentations.
