REI seeks a highly organized and detailed-oriented Corporate Accountant with a customer focused attitude to gather and maintain fixed asset information for multiple manufacturing facilities. The Corporate Accountant will partner with operation group management to answer questions and provide guidance on fixed asset related projects. The Corporate Accountant will also lead accounting related projects of various scopes, record and reconcile assigned accounts in accordance with company policies and assist with month-end closing.


The position will be located in off Satellite Blvd in Buford, GA office, and will be reporting to the Assistant Division Manager-Corporate Finance and Accounting.

Responsibilities include

  • Verify that transactions are coded and posted correctly to the general ledger and sub ledgers.
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries to make corrections when necessary.
  • Provide guidance and direction to accounting clerks in processing transactions.
  • Review financial and system reports, research variances, determine causes of the variances, and gather supporting information.
  • Recommend and implement methods and procedures to avoid future discrepancies.
  • Record and maintain fixed assets owned by the company as well as depreciation for these assets.
  • Reconcile fixed assets sub ledger to the general ledger.
  • Prepare fixed assets monthly reports and distributes them to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinate and schedule annual fixed assets inventory audit.
  • Interpret GAAP and REI policies related to fixed assets and communicate the requirements to the asset owners and project managers.
  • Prepare analysis on the financial impact of the acquisition and disposal of fixed assets.
  • Support management in the preparation of business cases for proposed capital projects through calculating and analyzing costs and return on investment.
  • Conduct month-end closing.
  • Prepare reconciliations or review the work of others to ensure that accounts are accurate and closed per schedule.
  • Assist accounting management in the preparation of annual accounting audit schedules and analyses for external audit.
  • Respond to external auditor inquiries and provide documentation, as required.
  • Participate in tests of key controls.
  • Draft procedures for Corporate Accounting functions, and update related SOX documentation.
  • Recommend and implement methods and controls to resolve procedural issues or to improve Corporate Accounting processes
  • Update accounting systems with financial data and verify output and reports
  • Daily interaction with internal management and staff in corporate accounting, cost accounting, business planning, production and engineering.

Qualified candidates will possess

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, required.
  • 5-7 years General Ledger Accounting experience and basic knowledge of Fixed Assets, required.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting practices and S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Must be able to do a physical audit of fixed assets in multiple, large buildings with multiple floors
  • Ability to work with and analyze large amounts of data; must be analytical, data driven, detail oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to articulate thoughts clearly across all organization levels.
  • Computer savvy with excellent Microsoft Excel knowledge, including Pivot Tables, V Lookups, and complex formulas, such as IF statements and other complex calculations, required.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships with internal/external customers, able to work autonomously or with a team.
  • Intermediate working knowledge in the rest of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven characteristics of confidentiality, ethics and integrity.
  • Pro-active, self-starter attitude with regard to identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Exceptional planning and organization skills.
