Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Management, the Sr. Custom Compliance Specialist will ensure corporate compliance with all U.S. Customs laws and regulations and manage compliance projects. The Sr. Custom Compliance Specialist will work closely with various departments, will research, analyze and determine the appropriate import classifications (Harmonized Tariff Schedule/HTS), based upon the U.S. Customs Regulations and relevant legal precedent, for the Company’s raw materials, parts, accessories and finished goods, and to maintain the Company’s related databases.

Responsibilities include

The Sr. Custom Compliance Specialist Will:

  • Develop/update Custom Compliance policies and procedures to conform to government agency regulations including: U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Federal Drug Administration, Federal trade Commission, Federal Communications Commission, Department of Labor, Department of Commerce, FTZ Board, U.S. Department of Agriculture and U.S. Census.
  • Oversee implementation of policies and procedures to ensure corporate compliance with Customs laws/regulations
  • Communicate with government agencies to respond to official requests, request information, resolve Customs issues and prepare and file required reports
  • Conduct internal audits of Operations to ensure compliance with Customs laws/regulations and oversee corrective actions by Operating Groups
  • Ensure HTS classifications/valuation accuracy and oversee management of HTS database prepare appropriate certificates, including NAFTA, TSCA, Certificate of Origin.
  • Resolve violations of government regulations by repairing prior disclosure and supporting documentation

Qualified candidates will possess

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in a related field.
  • Customs Brokers license preferred
  • Minimum 8+ years leading custom compliance programs for a company.
  • Very strong working knowledge of U.S. Import/Export regulations, Customs and Border Patrol, FTZ, C-TPAT required
  • Export/Import knowledge required
  • Ability to interact with Engineers to understand technology.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to effectively interact with individuals at various levels within the organization.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Highly proficient with MS Office PowerPoint and Word required.
  • Ability to travel 1 – 2 per year
